i'm not planning on doing any in-office whitening treatments, so it's very important to find a treatment that can be purchased over the counter, but still be reliable. so if anyone has any recommendations from firsthand or secondhand experiences, please let me know!

SMiLE!
for those who don't know me too well, i'm a person who always needs to be improving at something. if i have no goals i am trying to accomplish, i will end up going crazy! so the newest fad i've been researching is cosmetic dentistry, specifically teeth whitening. i've looked through many websites and found this website the most informative. i encourage everyone who is also interested in this topic to look at that website for risks, caveats, and more.

I bet your future dream is being a dentist right?
Personally, I'm big on avoiding ingesting chemicals or drugs or any kind. The sight of medicine makes me cringe, I feel guilty every time I use the microwave, and I avoid make up as much as I can. Tooth whitening at the dentists or using some treatment or another just wouldn't work for me.
My discovery came sometime last year. I used to use a regular toothbrush to brush my teeth, just like any other person. At some point, I decided to break out a prehistoric electronic toothbrush that I used once upon a time. I wasn't paying attention to the color of my teeth very much but about a week after I started using it (my parents weren't aware that I was using an electric one again) I smiled and my parents commented that my teeth were all of a sudden much whiter than usual. And they were. I say try an electronic tooth brush before going any farther.
In the past I've found Crest Whitestrips produce terrific results. Unfortunately, I found that after using them for a while I would have a sharp, shooting, hardly bearable pain in one of my two front teeth for about 3 seconds. It doesn't sound like much, but I promise had it gone to 4 seconds I would have been crying. So I haven't used Crest Whitestrips since november. I have been looking into the Aquafresh whitening trays because they are reusable (better for the environment). However, a more expensive brand that is known to work is GoSmile, and you may find it at Sephora. It is a sort of gel that you put on your teeth, and it comes in easy go containers that can be used on the run anytime anywhere. Hope that helped!
OH and it helps if you use whitening tooth paste...I use Crest ProHealth and it is a pretty decent substitute.
